About MCJobs
MCJobs is a job board for Minecraft server teams. This page answers what you want to know before you trust a job board with a team or an application. Each question below leads to its answer.
Before this, hiring ran through Discord.
A server that needs a builder asks in its own Discord. Somebody looking for work clicks through other people’s Discords. That works as long as you know the right people. If you don’t, it does not work at all.

On MCJobs it has a place. A listing stays findable for as long as the position is open. A profile says what somebody can do. And every application has a status both sides can see, even when the answer is no.
Two sides, and neither is the afterthought.
From a hobby SMP with five friends to a network with a standing editorial team. From a first work sample to the portfolio somebody pays their rent with.
Servers and studios
You post a position, get every application in one place and answer them there. A studio, meaning a team of talents, also sets up an organization here and applies together.
Talents
Building, development, moderation, support, community management, art, writing, testing. A profile shows what you can do. On every application you can see where it stands.
A volunteer request sits on equal footing with a paid position: the same search, the same visibility, the same tools. Paying gets you more listings and better placement. Nobody gets a different product.
Nobody has to share a password.
“Do we need one shared account for the team?”
No. Everybody on the team signs in with their own account, with their own two-factor and their own passkey. On top of that they get a role that sets out what they may do. Whoever leaves the team loses access immediately. With a shared password you would have to change it and hand it out to everybody else again.

Owner
Created the team. Handles billing, can hand ownership on, and can dissolve the team.

Runs the team: members, listings, applications. Sees the billing situation without changing it.

Recruiter
Posts positions and decides on the applications to them. Changes nothing about the team itself.

Reviewer
Reads the applications and records an assessment of them. This role cannot decide.

Applicant
Applies on the studio’s behalf and answers the questions that follow. Decides on nothing.

Guest
On the team and nothing more: appears on the public team block, with no view of listings or applications.
Invitations go out by email address. A role can be changed at any time, and an invitation nobody accepts expires after seven days. Handing over ownership is a step of its own, so that it cannot change hands in passing.
How we make money and what is not for sale.
Three listings at a time cost nothing. We only make money from memberships and boosts. Because both improve placement, this is where the line runs.

What MCJobs is not.
Four things we deliberately do not do, although they would sell.
Not a payment service.
What two parties agree, they agree with each other. There is no escrow, no invoicing between them and no commission on a fee.
Not a recruiting agency.
We propose nobody, pick nobody and grade nobody. The lists are sorted, not curated. What two sides record about each other after working together is theirs, not our verdict.
No machine translation.
The interface comes in German and English. A listing stays in the language it was written in. A translated job description is a different job description.
No data trading.
Profiles and applications are not sold on and not evaluated for advertising; we set no tracking or advertising cookies.

What happened is confirmed by both sides.
Because we hold no money, something else has to do the work: a collaboration only counts once both sides confirm it. After that it is public on both profiles.

Both confirm
An entry only exists once both sides say the collaboration happened. What only one side claims is deleted after 30 days and was never visible to anybody else.

Both write, or nobody reads
The assessments of each other stay hidden until both have written. Whoever writes first does not know what is coming back.

Paid means both say so
“Paid as agreed” only appears when both sides confirm it. If one side says no or does not answer, nothing appears on the profile. We do not publish an accusation the other side never answered.
So somebody who does nothing ends up with no bad entry, but with none at all. That is the only outcome that is fair to somebody who never agreed to anything.
Reports, appeals and an age floor.
- Anybody can report, with or without an account.
- The reported text is captured at the moment of the report, so editing it afterwards changes nothing. Anybody who leaves an email address gets a confirmation of receipt and, later, word that it was decided. A block can be appealed, for a listing, an organization and a profile. Report content
- No account under 16.
- Instead of a guardian-consent process we say no, and that costs us exactly the youngest hobby builders. Anybody under 18 gets a profile that starts closed to unprompted contact, and on an application to a paid listing both sides see a note about what that involves. The age itself is on no profile, in no filter and in no badge. An age a team can see is an age a team can decide by.
There is a name behind MCJobs.
MCJobs is run by Scrayos UG (haftungsbeschränkt), a small company in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, Germany. Joshua Dean Küpper is responsible for it. So anybody with a complaint knows where it goes.
